About Photo Calc Desk

Photo Calc Desk is a free set of browser tools for photographers, videographers and anyone who sets up a camera or runs a photo business. Each page does one job — work out an aspect ratio, depth of field, field of view or exposure value, convert a crop factor, look up a shutter-speed chart, or fill in a photography contract, invoice or model release — and works straight away: there is no account and nothing to install.

How it works

• Everything runs in your browser. What you type or choose stays on your device; nothing is uploaded.
• Results are computed, not typed in. The examples on each page are produced by the same code the tool runs, and the code is tested against independently calculated results.
• Formulas are named. Optics and exposure formulas follow their published definitions (ISO 2720 for exposure value, the standard circle-of-confusion conventions for depth of field), and each page says which formula it uses.
• Templates are not legal or tax advice. The contract, invoice and release pages produce plain-language starting documents from the details you type; have a qualified professional review anything with legal effect.
• Third-party material used on the site is listed on the credits page.
